As with the B173 Quad preamplifier from Black Lion Audio, the circuit design of the single-channel B173 mkII is also based on the classic circuit, convincingly transporting the legendary fat, warm British sound into the modern era. The gain stage has been significantly revised for an even cleaner sound with less distortion. Two large-format controls for the input and output level allow sensitive control of the sound colouration through the transformers, so that all sound variants from velvety and elegant to rich and overtone-rich are immediately available.
