Avantone Pro CR-14 - Ribbon Microphone
The Avantone "Cabernet (C Series)" microphones are designed for truly professional performance and meet or exceed the performance and specifications of much more expensive microphones. The CR-14 is a really good looking and sounding microphone. The design, character and performance are comparable to the best ribbon microphones.
The CR-14 microphone housing and internal components are precision machined from brass. It comes in an elegant cabernet wine red finish with a nickel trim and black grill, a beautiful retro design.
The transformer-coupled output delivers absolutely professional results, comparable to much more expensive microphones. Due to its versatility, the CR-14 can be offered by any professional studio as a guitar, room, drum overhead or vocal microphone.
The CR-14's dual, ultra-lightweight ribbon element allows for a much higher sensitivity than most single ribbon designs. This design provides a fast and accurate transient response, an ultra-high sound pressure level of 148 dB and an amazingly realistic sonic image. Its figure-8 polar pattern has extended sweet spots (compared to large diaphragm condenser microphones and single ribbon designs).
The CR-14 has very low self-noise and no internal active electronics that could lead to overload or distortion. It also requires no power supply.
