Tannoy Ltd. is a British manufacturer of public address systems and loudspeakers.
The company was founded under the name Tulsmere Manufacturing Company 1926 in London by Guy Fountain. The word Tannoy, after which the company later named itself, arose from the words Tantalum and Alloy, which make reference to the tantalum alloy, which has used the company in their electric rectifiers. Tannoy is considered to be the oldest company in this industry and the first in the world to offer coaxial speakers. Over the years, Tannoy has produced a large number of products for opera houses, concert halls, airports, stadiums, recording studios and home applications.
