Fender Custom Shop '63 Stratocaster Relic RW - 3-Tone Sunburst Korina
For the real connoisseur..
Only a few people know that Fender made a hand-full of Strats with Korina body back in 1963. Due to the fact that all documented instruments have similar wood grain, it is suspected that Fender bought one plank of Korina wood and made about 5 Strats out of it, all in 3-tone sunburst. The owners of these very rare vintage instruments describe them as very sweet sounding with a tone that is best of both worlds between an alder- and an ash-bodied Strat
We at ProMusicTools revived this very interesting combination with a few custom ordered instruments featuring a one piece (!) Korina body, a maple neck with curved, dark AAA rosewood fingerboard in "60s Oval C" shape, 9.5" fingerboard radius , 6105 frets and a unique pickup combination that eliminates the difference in volume between the pickups, caused by the different amplitudes of the strings. The result is an amazingly equal output for all 5 positions!
