Avantone Pro CV-12 BLA – Large Diaphragm Tube Microphone
The CV-12BLA takes the popular CV-12 one step further!
Black Lion Audio has spent more than a decade perfecting the art of equipment modification. Based on this experience, we have jointly developed the CV-12BLA. The familiar high-mid boost of the CV-12 has been tamed and a new capsule has been used to further smooth the highs and emphasise the lows, resulting in a more balanced frequency response. The flat frequency response combined with a higher headroom makes the CV-12BLA a more "utilitarian" microphone, on which almost everything sounds good and which shines especially with full-range signals. The coupling condenser, a 34 mm CK12-style capsule, was chosen for its transparency. The CV-12BLA has a completely newly developed, low-noise power supply.
The CV-12BLA incorporates the new Jetsun shock mount. This shock mount not only helps to isolate the microphone from the stand, but the front section is also open, allowing instruments and windscreens to be moved a few centimetres closer to the headshell. This design allows the performer to utilise an increased proximity effect, which is much more difficult to achieve with a fully circular shock mount.
