While originally inspired by the 5C sound cubes of decades ago, the Avantone MixCubes have become the industry standard in studios worldwide and the number one best-selling speaker of its kind.

The Avantone Active Mixcubes are designed as high-resolution, fully functional mini reference monitors for stationary or mobile use. The secondary technical goal was to create a timeless design that incorporates a single full-range transducer.

The original 5C Sound Cubes™ were made from ½" chipboard covered with a glued-on wood grain chlorobromide silver paper. We opted for a thicker, denser MDF board because of its greater strength and less resonant behavior.

The originals were a simple 5" frame design. We designed a 5.25" die-cast aluminum driver/cone assembly to exceed the performance of the originals. The driver top plate and T-yoke are made from Sumitomo 1008 low carbon steel.
