Black Lion Audio Eighteen – Vintage Channelstrip
The Black Lion Audio Eighteen channel strip proves that vintage sound can be achieved by more than just imitating individual devices. With the Eighteen, the US manufacturer offers a hardware unit that pays tribute to some classic designs, but stands for itself. Two discrete BLA1831 op-amps sit behind the classic Cinemag input transformers, and the passive tone control is characterised by a special Cinemag induction coil. The preamp presents the smooth sound of the classics, but with a significantly lower noise floor, while the EQ develops its own charm and can be used flexibly and purposefully.
